Bitcoin ETFs Flip Negative for 2026 After a $1.28 Billion Outflow Week

November 8, 20262 min read

Bitcoin ETFs in the US have turned negative for 2026. They lost $1.28 billion in a week, the most since June. If you follow bitcoin, these flows are worth knowing.

What exactly happened

The week ended with a weak Friday. According to The Block, BlackRock's IBIT accounted for $403 million, or 98% of the daily outflow. It is the flagship fund among bitcoin ETFs, so its moves set the tone for everyone.

The weekly total came to $1.28 billion in outflows. That pushed cumulative bitcoin ETF flows since January below zero. As recently as early October, the funds were gathering money.

Funds that collected money all year are now giving it back faster than they take it in.

How it lined up with the price

It was a jittery week. After the US election bitcoin bounced back, but on Nov. 5 a selloff in AI stocks erased that gain. On Thursday, Nov. 6, the price slipped under $75,000 and liquidations of long positions topped $1 billion.

The same day the funds lost $430 million, per Decrypt. Cointelegraph says $530 million, but it counts bitcoin and ether ETFs together. The figures differ because the sets of funds differ, and the direction is the same.

Why ETF outflows get read as a signal

DWF Labs said back in October that bitcoin ETF buyers follow the trend rather than set it. So when the price falls, they sell right behind it.

Outflows are not the cause of the drop. They act more like an amplifier: the price slid, funds gave back a slice, and the price slid again. That is how the week looked on the chart.

What to watch next

  • Daily flows into IBIT, because that fund decides the sign of the week.
  • Whether bitcoin gets back above $76,000, the level it traded around in these days.
  • Whether outflows stop for even a few days in a row.

What an ordinary holder can do

At Kurslog we do not advise tuning decisions to a single weekly chart. Someone buying bitcoin for years looks at a horizon of years, not days. If you do decide to sell bitcoin for hryvnia, compare rates across exchangers, because the gap between them can be noticeable.

One number matters for the coming week: whether the outflow from IBIT stops.
