NEAR's token surged roughly 78% over seven days and traded near $4.29 on Monday, far outpacing the broader market. The rally coincided with the network expanding its private trading services and a record volume on its NEAR Intents swap platform. According to CoinGecko, the token added another 22% in the past 24 hours alone.
A sharp jump in NEAR's price
Total crypto market capitalization rose about 6% over the same weekly period, meaning NEAR outpaced the market more than tenfold. A move this sharp usually has a specific trigger, and this time it was the expansion of the network's private trading features.
Confidential trading on near.com
On Thursday, Near Protocol made deposits and withdrawals for perpetual futures trading through near.com confidential by default. The feature hides the link between a trader's funding wallet and their dedicated trading account on Hyperliquid. The same day, near.com's confidential total value locked crossed $70 million, triggering the first snapshot under the NEAR@3.33 incentive program. The program allocated 333,333 milestone tokens for the first distribution, which unlock and convert to NEAR once their three-day volume-weighted average price reaches at least $3.33.
NEAR Intents nears $30 billion
NEAR Intents lets users request cross-chain swaps, with market makers competing to execute them. On Monday, the NEAR Intents Explorer showed the following results:
- Cumulative volume since the service launched reached $29.3 billion.
- $842 million moved through it over the past seven days.
- The ZODL wallet for Zcash generated $3.8 million across 458 transactions over the previous 24 hours.
Among the largest transactions that same day was a swap worth roughly $613,000 in ZEC. Bitwise Research analyst Camran Khosravi called Near and Zcash "complements," noting that the network gives ZEC holders confidential cross-chain infrastructure and access to liquidity. He also cautioned that NEAR Intents' TVL can rise simply because the price of ZEC already deposited in the system increases, without any new deposits.
AI staking and a deeper privacy focus
Near is extending privacy beyond trading. In July, NEAR AI launched staking-based payments that let users stake NEAR to receive credits for confidential AI inference and agent hosting while keeping ownership of the underlying tokens. Combined with the new near.com feature and growing Intents volume, it fits the network's broader strategy: turning privacy into one of the main selling points for traders and developers.
